Downtown Filming, Take Three

39168_1496976139858_1097738884_1439019_5426857_n Washington and Union is proving a popular filming spot.  I took this last summer during the filming of “Loosies,” which is supposedly coming out this December, while unwittingly standing next to Jenny Garth and Peter Fascinelli.  Later, I spent a couple weeks in the same block tripping over gear and looking longingly at food spread out on sidewalk tables (so cruel, ABC) for the crews of “Body of Proof.”  Now Washington Street, from Empire to Union, will be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow (9/13) and Wednesday (9/14) from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. to film something new for Universal Pictures.  I live under a rock so I don’t know what it is, but I’m glad those tax credits are doing something for Providence.

[Editor’s Note: Turns out they are filming chase scenes for R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges in a story about a zombie cop squad (limited product placement opportunities for Dunkin Donuts I guess). One man-on-the-street told ProJo staff writer Randal Edgar that he had read about the filming “on a blog.” That’s us. . . I bet that’s us. Filming continues today, Wednesday. BC]
