What better place to release an album called “Divine Providence” than Pawtucket. Hey. Having said that, there may be no better venue for a Deer Tick show than the Met. John McCauley spoke with ProJo scribe Rick Massimo about the new music.
“We wanted to do something a little louder, a little bit more fun,” McCauley says. “We’ve always kind of played a little louder and faster than our records.”
Hooray. Recorded mostly live at Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, the disc was mixed and mastered in Nashville where McCauley now resides.
Their Wednesday show will have a unique format. The band will have taped a performance for the Late Show with David Letterman at 5pm that same day. They then head up here on the train — take the Acela guys — play a set, show the Letterman performance (very meta), and then play an encore. Yeah, take the Acela.
