Surreal Doom And Sludge — Wednesday At AS220

the bodyLook at this line-up. Armageddon Records presents,

Devastating duo Black Cobra comprises drummer Rafa Martinez (ex-16, ex-Acid King) and guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-Cavity). Black Cobra catapulted themselves onto the scene in 2001 with their ravenous, upbeat and ultimately unique style of punk/hardcore-fueled sludge metal.

“At their fastest, Zoroaster could pass for half-speed Motorhead. At their slowest, the seconds between notes inch into double-digits. Titanic heaviness . . . in the right light, those wide-open riffs hide worlds inside.” — The Village Voice

The Body is a two-piece sludge metal band based in Providence (formed in 1999). Their 2010 full length “All The Waters of The Earth Turn To Blood” received critical acclaim and landed a spot in NPR Viking’s Choice: 2010’s Best Metal And Outer Sound who named it “the most surreal doom-metal record of 2010” adding “It’s as if the noise-rock legends in Swans picked up reins and headed south, kidnapped a choir and traded moonshine with Harvey Milk and Godflesh along the way. The journey frequently threatens to derail, but The Body maintains the chaos, even as the duo (yes, only two people make this racket) instigates it.”
