It’s been a busy year for Roz Raskin and the Rice Cakes with the release last summer of the new EP Monster Man (Phoenix review) and filming the video for the single “Magma” (video after the jump). The band is currently back in town writing, recording, and preparing for a spring tour that will hopefully include the west coast and SXSW. Meanwhile Roz was just named ‘Gansett Girl of the Week’!
Roz and the Rice Cakes are on a monster bill this Friday at Fête with Brother Kite, Herra Terra, Vulgarrity, the Silks, and more.

Is ‘suicide girls’ even still a thing? It feels so last century. And so not Roz, a talented musician who fronts her own band for pete’s sake. She just happens to be really cool looking as well.
What makes her an emo suicide girl? Tattoos? Dyed hair? Did you watch the music video full of sunshine and puppets before you wrote that comment? Sigh…
Gansett girls aren’t trying to be suicide girls at all.
What is it with Gansett girls being emo suicide girl wannabes?
Don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining. It just seems like a tenuous connection between the product and aesthetic.
