My work of the last year or so has had me focused on civil liberties issues, and in particular on the repeated efforts by the major media conglomerates of each given era to stifle innovation and broadened access to content. Starting at least as early as 1909, when the player piano was the scourge of the fashionable.
I just stumbled upon this 1970s PSA authored by the Big Three TV networks about the impending threat of cable. (As one colleague puts it, “One wonders what Comcast-NBC thinks!”)
