‘The Innkeepers’ And Oscar Shorts At The Cable Car Cinema

The Innkeepers Tonight is the last night (sorry for misstating this earlier, and missing its start) of the horror film The Innkeepers (Thursday, February 9 at 10:30pm). You probably already know whether or not you are seeing this deliberately paced Ti West haunted hotel movie. Viewing has become kind of a thang in New York City — read “A Horror Film, Bookended by Parties” at the New York Times. According to the NYT review, the director employs familiar horror tropes, then

. . . thwarts our preconceived notions of what might happen. He keeps moments of actual horror to a minimum: the fright arrives, but the path there is one that he hopes isn’t obvious.

Some fans enjoy the “slow burn” pacing, others not so much.

Also at the Cable Car (starting Friday, February 10th and running through Monday, February 13th) the Oscar Nominated Shorts 2012 program — live action, animation, documentary. The nominated films will also be available on iTunes February 21st.

Cable Car Cinema, 204 South Main Street, 272.3970
