Tribute To HP Lovecraft

HPL Tribute(4.1) To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the death of horror writer H.P. Lovecraft a special tribute will take place on the grounds of the Ladd Observatory, built in 1891 and frequented by Lovecraft in his boyhood years.

The public is invited to the ceremony which will include readings from three of Lovecraft’s stories as well as a eulogy from Connecticut historian Christian Henry Tobler. Event organizer, Carl L. Johnson, director of the Lovecraft Commemorative Activities Committee, said Gothic or vintage attire is encouraged.

After the proceedings at the observatory, all will be invited to pay their respects at H.P. Lovecraft’s gravesite in Swan Point Cemetery on Blackstone Boulevard. Go here for The Guide to Lovecraftian Sites in Providence. (New picture added from the event. The weather was appropriately gray and gloomy much to everyone’s delight.)

3pm, Sunday, April 1, Ladd Observatory, 210 Doyle Avenue (corner of Hope Street). For more information contact Mr. Johnson at 401.356.1381.
