(3.21) The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing on marriage for same-sex couples this Thursday, March 21, at 4pm. Ocean State Action invites everyone to show their support.
This will be the only hearing on the marriage equality legislation recently passed by the House. However, opponents of equality have introduced a dangerous resolution to place marriage on the ballot and roll back the state’s non-discrimination laws. Both bills will be heard this Thursday and that’s why we need your help!
The bill that would let voters decide appears to be losing steam. The Providence Journal reports that two of that bill’s cosponsors, state Senators James Doyle and Leonidas Raptakis, have asked to have their names removed from that bill.
