RISD Museum Also Free Sundays — No Seaweed, No Isopods

climate chaos (7.28) For those who can’t or won’t go to the beach, here’s another thing that’s free . . . the RISD Museum on Sundays from 10am to 5pm. Check out the ongoing One Room shows part of the Locally Made exhibit. Tomorrow, Sunday, July 28, from noon to 1pm, in the Contemporary Art Gallery, Micah Salkind curates, and is the featured DJ in, “Assembly: The Re-Sounding City.”

In “The Re-sounding City” six Providence DJs spin one-hour sets that speak to their experiences of life in The Creative Capital. Curator and DJ Micah Jackson will be on-site to talk and dance about the Assembly with audiences, asking them to contribute drawings and text indexing their impressions in archival leger, a document that will compliment audio recordings of the one-hour performances.

From 2pm to 3pm in the Contemporary Art Gallery see “Demo & Discourse: Eric Ruin on Printmaking.” Printmaker and shadow-puppeteer Ruin (Climate Chaos seen here) will share his work and discuss the process of making it.

A variety of One Room Assemblies and Demos continue for several months (go here for calendar) and are free with museum admission . . . and on Sundays admission is free.

Sundays free, 10am to 5pm, RISD Museum, 224 Benefit Street, 20 North Main Street, (directions)
