(8.30) The PawSox host the Syracuse Chiefs Friday with Clay Buchholz (9-0 with a 1.71 ERA in 12 starts for Boston this season) making a rehab start as he continues his comeback from a neck strain that has kept him on the disabled list and out of the Red Sox rotation since June 9. More at ProJo.
The next step for Buchholz is expected to be one more rehab start with the PawSox the following Wednesday, a start in which he’ll throw around 70 pitches. That would put him in line to be activated from the disabled list and pitch for the Red Sox on Sept. 10 at Tampa Bay.
Buchholz was 9-0 with a 1.71 ERA in 12 starts for Boston this season before going on the DL.
