Night Football — Brown Stadium

Brown Bear (10.5) Come on Rams we can take this guy! It’s time once again for the Governor’s Cup — that classic face-off between the salt-of-the-earth land granters of the University of Rhode Island and a bunch of Ivy League bed-wetters. This will be a historic night for URI.

The game at Brown Stadium Saturday is the 1,000th football game in the history of URI football. Fittingly enough, the game comes against Brown, Rhode Island’s most common opponent. This is the 98th meeting between the schools, accounting for nearly 10 percent of all games in URI history.

At the time of this writing there are tickets still available at the Brown Athletics website for this the first of two night games on the schedule this season at the Brown Stadium.

(This writer stands proudly with Christiane Amanpour and I’m sure lots of other accomplished people whose names I can’t think of right now as a proud Ramette. Notable Brown alums include Chuck Colson and Lisa Loeb. BC)

[Additional Note: Bears over Rams 31/14. Next year . . . next year.]

$20, 6pm, Saturday, October 5, Brown Stadium, 400 Elmgrove Avenue, directions
