If you must go shopping on Black Friday why not take a walk through the Providence Arcade. Several shops are open already as well as New Harvest Coffee and Spirits which has soft lighting and a gorgeous red tile backstop, very inviting (open until 11pm on Friday).

Go say hello to Christine at Carmen & Ginger, a shop specializing in vintage goods with a smattering of new stuff that looks and feels old-timey (the letterpress Xmas cards by Smock are lovely). Vintage clothing, gloves, and jewelry . . . cool purses (pic after the jump), figurines and Xmas tchotchkes, and vintage cameras. Carmen & Ginger will be opening its doors for the first time at 10am.

Don’t forget, new holiday parking rules will be in effect — first two hours at a meter are free.
