(1.19) The Parlour ought to be hopping this weekend when local roots-rockers the ‘Mericans mount two days of music. On Saturday they will be performing their recent “Tribute to Providence” album. Then on Sunday they turn the stage over to other local musicians, as well as a few of the originals who inspired the album, in what should be a glorious reunion/party/jam celebrating some of the most beloved Providence musicians of the 90’s, and up to the present.
Andy Smith wrote up the event (the hard copy features a very large photo of the band) in today’s ProJo;
The Saturday show will have the ’Mericans playing all 20 songs from “A Tribute to Providence,” with some surprise guests. On Sunday, some of the musicians whose songs were covered in the collection will take the stage.
Scheduled to perform Sunday are The Brother Kite, Reindeer (with former members of Scarce and the Swirlies), Daltry’s former band Purple Ivy Shadows, Honeybunch, Pete Donnelly of The Figgs, Arc Iris (with former Low Anthem member Jocie Adams), Allysen Callery and the Nonpareils.
The ‘Mericans have made “Tribute to Providence” available as a free download; that’s how much they love these tunes, and these musicians.
