Opening Day — Red Sox In The Charm City

Boston Red Sox (3.31) The Boston Red Sox kick off the new season today against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Some stuff to know:

1) Shaaaaaane! According to the Boston Globe and the Red Sox Shane Victorino has pulled a hammie and, at the time of this writing, is still questionable for opening day. Jackie Bradley Jr. is on call (see below).

2) Middlebrooks is wearing contact lenses.

3) Grady Sizemore is starting at center field. Jackie Bradley Jr. has been sent down to Pawtucket.

4) We have expanded instant replay review. “Each manager will start the game with one challenge. If the challenge is successful, he’ll get one more. After the sixth inning, the umpires have the option to initiate a replay on their own.”

5) Salty is gone. New catcher is A.J. Pierzynski.

6) Jon Lester will be on the mound. He is 15-3 with a 2.94 earned run average against the Orioles.
