I can hardly make sense of this picture and I took it. Discovered today on Hope Street — artist Michael Macaulay. What this work will look like by tomorrow is anybody’s guess, but you’ll have to play in traffic to get a good look.
Macauley, a New York transplant, employs different media on various surfaces — some trompe l’oeil, some not — and if you’ve ever wanted your own Green Monster, this is your man. Today it was chalk on pavement.
Macauley’s patience was remarkable as oblivious adults and lunatic children crisscrossed the street. He seemed reluctant to declare the piece finished but the lengthening afternoon shadows were forcing the issue.
