The Whale Guitar Closing Show — Thursday

whale guitar (6.5) See and hear this one-of-a-kind guitar. Conceived by musician Jen Long and designed by artist William Schaff, this unique instrument was inspired by “Moby-Dick” and the Nicholson Whaling Collection at the Providence Public Library, and it’s going to get a workout Thursday night.

The “Sonic Nantucket Sleighride” exhibit will be closing with performances featuring talented local musicians including: the Assembly of Light Choir, Cannibal Ramblers, Roz Raskin, Cardboard Cannons, Karen Orsi, Michelle Cruz, Christopher Johnson, and Rachel Rosencrantz, the luthier who fabricated this wondrous item out of upcycled Corian (we wrote her up last month).

Also featuring Ocean Alliance researcher and educator Kim Marshall-Tilas (feel free to make a donation). For more details and to RSVP the event go here.

Free and open to the public, doors 5:30pm, show 6pm to 8:30pm, Thursday, June 5, next to Special Collections, 3rd floor, Providence Public Library, 225 Washington Street
