ArtProv Gallery will be holding an opening reception tonight from 5pm to 9pm for “Fresh Paint.” Artists include Judy Volkmann, Alecia Underhill, Michael Foytho, Mark Holme, Daniel Koterbay, and seen here, Jane Andreozzi. Show runs through December 21st.
Exploring methods and materials is an important component to her work process. Her fiber pieces are created with a variety of textiles, ranging from hand-dyed wool to recycled fabric. It’s a method inspired by a traditional textile technique passed down through generations of women who crafted rugs from old worn clothing.
Mary Jane’s series of wax oil crayon drawings on wood and stone began with similar images as her fiber pieces, but she found herself inspired by the forms found in the wood itself and her imagery moved toward abstraction.
