Aurora — Lots To Look At

New artwork adorns the front of the bar at Aurora on Westminster Street adding to the already eye-catching interior of the place (which really does hew to an auroral color palette). The glow of this illuminated facade presents an inviting scene to passers-by (the front of Aurora is all windows). Check it out early, before all those pesky customers start crowding around and getting in the way.

Turns out the day-glo glyphs and figures had just recently been stenciled on by artist and RISD grad, and Aurora bar manager, Audrey King (here on left). Hidden strands of color-changing LED’s were hidden beneath the bar, animating this alien frieze. Other original art around the lounge area includes work by King’s father — both her parents are artists.

Also behind the bar this evening was Steve Delmonico, guitarist and vocalist of the Quahogs. Everybody here is a musician, or artist, or both, which is why it has turned into such an amazing place to be.
