Bummer. It’s only a couple of weeks though. The Providence Athenaeum will be closed for their annual August break today through Sunday, August 16th. For those new to the area, the Providence Athenaeum is a public library. To take out books and such you must be a member, but anyone can go in, roam the stacks, absorb the atmosphere, inhale Poe dust.
The Providence Athenaeum, a unique independent, member-supported library and cultural center, welcomes and enriches the educational and cultural pursuits of its members and the community and encourages a diverse public to engage in spirited conversation.
The Providence Athenaeum, at 251 Benefit Street, will reopen at 10am on Monday, August 17. Just in time for NecronomiCon! (Check out the website for a view of the library’s interior.)
