Celebrate Halloween in the Arcade at the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences Bookstore* for readings by New England writers of weird fiction.
On the evenings of October 30 and 31, Lovecraft Arts & Sciences will host weird fiction readings by local and regional authors. Come join us in the very heart of eldritch Providence, at the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences bookstore in the historic Providence Arcade. We’re conveniently located across the hall from New Harvest Coffee & Spirits, so you can enjoy warming beverages with your chilling tales.
Friday — Program begins at 6pm with introductions and a brief reading of spooky Lovecraft tales, followed by readings by two accomplished local authors. Vincent O’Neil will read a selection of weird classics and a passage from his book “Interlands.” Then, renowned Providence author Paul Di Filippo will read from his short story “Jack Neck and the Worrybird.” (Facebook event October 30.)
Saturday — Evening starts at 6pm with introductions and another set of chilling Lovecraft tales, followed by three great authors from around New England. Matthew Bartlett, from Northampton, will read excerpts from stories in his books “Gateways to Abomination” and “The Witch-Cult in Western Massachusetts.” Then, Douglas Wynne, from Newburyport, will read an excerpt from his novel, “Red Equinox.” Finally, Jonathan Thomas will read a portion of his story “Integrity” — notably set in the Arcade — from his collection “Dreams of Ys and Other Invisible Worlds.” (Facebook event October 31.)
