The Rhode Island Department of Education has just announced that applications are now available for its Prekindergarten Lottery. Ready to Learn Providence operates three of the programs and wants to get the word out about this fantastic statewide opportunity.
The lottery is open to all residents where prekindergarten programs are located, regardless of income.
The prekindergarten program day is six hours long. State prekindergarten funding does not pay for before- or after-child care, but if you need that service, all of the programs can help you find a licensed program, and many of them accept state child-care assistance funds.
Applications must be received by July 1st.
Eligibility: You must live in one of the 11 communities where a prekindergarten program is located and your child must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2016.
Providence has 18 classrooms with locations around the city on Elmwood Avenue, Hope Street, Hartford Avenue, Camp Street, Point Street, Berkshire Street, and more.
