Register To Vote — Stephen Hopkins House

(8.13) Become a registered voter — or update current registration — Saturday at the 18th century home of ten-time colonial Governor, and Signer of the Declaration of Independence, Stephen Hopkins. George Washington visited this house . . . twice! These men risked “their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor” to give us the right to elect our own government.

Thanks to Rhode Island’s League of Women Voters and the Colonial Dames (as in, there’s nothing like a . . .) citizens from around the state, as young as 16, may register. Current election information will be available, and registered voters may make changes of address, name, and marital status. No photo ID required.

Free guided tours of the Stephen Hopkins House, offered every Saturday from May through November, will be available throughout the day. A donation would be nice.

Deadline for registering to vote in the September primaries is Sunday, August 14. (Online voting here.) Check out your status/who are your elected officials: RI Voter Information Center.

Voter registration, 10am to 4pm, Saturday, August 13, Stephen Hopkins House, 15 Hopkins Street at Benefit, (directions)
