Providence Folk Festival — Roger Williams Memorial

(8.28) I doubt Roger would have approved of this bacchanal being held on the Sabbath, but neither would he have called in the civil authorities. Yay Rog. The Roger Williams National Memorial will be hosting the 3rd annual Providence Folk Festival — Sunday from noon to 6pm — on two stages. And it’s free. Who’s on the bill? (Facebook event page.)

Jen Chapin/ Abby Gardner/ Marc Douglas Berardo and Seatrail Horse Eyed Men/ Alec K. Refearn/ Rebirth/Warbler’s Roost/ Dan Lilley and the Keepers/ Amy Bedard/ Cardboard Ox/ Lisa Couto/ Jacob Haller/ Johnstone and Walcoff/ Terry Kitchen/ Dave Provost/ Elad Vilk/ Allison Giuliano

It is also unlikely that Roger Williams would have posed for this poster — with or without the acoustic guitar — graven images, pride, couldn’t play a lick . . . stuff like that. This scratchboard illustration really is graven, and the work of Joanna Lapati.

Happy 100th Birthday to the National Park Service!

Folk Festival, noon to 6pm, Sunday, August 28, RW National Memorial, 282 North Main Street, (directions)
