This chair really is a flotation device. The furniture shows at the Woods-Gerry Gallery never disappoint. Both undergrads and alums are represented in the Department of Furniture Design Triennial Exhibition which runs through December 12.
Seen here is ‘Sinuous’ — powder coated steel and pool noodles — by Noelle Antignano (BFA Furniture Design 2016).
In addition to the chairs — also check out ‘Ghost Chair’ made entirely of clear tape wrapped around empty space (?) and impossible to photograph — and the tables, benches, cabinets, and lighting fixtures, this category seems to include toys (see below).
There is accomplished woodworking on display in this show. One must constantly resist the temptation to stroke and plump the various materials in use. I seem to have a thing for powder coated steel. And bleached ash.
Gallery hours: Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Sunday, 2pm to 5pm.
