‘A Christmas Story’ The Play At Rochambeau

(12.10) “A Christmas Story” will be performed by Living Literature this Saturday at the Rochambeau Library. (Providence Community Library)

This two-person play is a 40-minute version of Jean Shepherd’s “Duel in the Snow,” upon which the 1983 classic movie, “A Christmas Story” was based. The performance tells the story of a child who lives in the Great Depression and yearns for an official Red Ryder air rifle for Christmas.

Living Literature is a collective of Rhode Island based artists and educators who use theatre-style presentations to dramatize literary works, allowing the audience to experience the events and characters of the story in an unique way.

(This tableau honoring the beloved movie version of “A Christmas Story” can be seen at POP Emporium. And if you haven’t checked out POP yet, this would be a good time.)

Free and open to the public, 2pm to 3pm, Saturday, December 10, Rochambeau Library, 708 Hope Street, (directions)
