OV Library Grand Reopening

(5.30) The Olneyville Library is reopening after more than a year of repairs and renovation, and the public is invited to celebrate the results at a party Tuesday.

The library suffered flooding in April 2016 after heavy rains overwhelmed the local drainage system, causing significant damage. Local residents and businesses rallied in June at Cluck! on Broadway to raise $10,000 in just two hours in support of repairs and to help replace damaged fittings and furniture.

Established in 1875, the Olneyville Free Library first served several generations of mill workers out of an upstairs room in a building up on Hartford Avenue. The library has been in this Hospital Trust Bank Building since 1990.

The restoration process took a little longer than originally anticipated but the Olneyville branch of the Providence Community Library are proud of the results and excited to get this much-loved community resource back online.

Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

7pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday, May 30, Olneyville Library, One Olneyville Square, (401) 421.4084, (directions)
