Prov-Newport Ferry Starts

The popular Seastreak Ferry kicks off the summer season with more trips per day between Providence and Newport, and a longer season running through October 1st. The ferry was a huge hit last year so they have expanded the schedule. Last year 20% of the runs were sold out, with heaviest demand on Friday and Saturday mornings. According to the ProJo,

There will now be four trips a day from Sunday through Thursday and five trips on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. Last year, morning and early afternoon departures from Providence were frequently sold out.

Parking is free, as is the free shuttle bus that runs between the train station, the convention center, downtown, and the ferry terminal. Go here for schedules. So what are the amenities?

We have plenty of spacious airline style seating spanning across multiple decks. You can enjoy the view from the outside decks, or sit comfortably inside in the air conditioned cabin. And, don’t forget your bikes, boards, or beagles. Seastreak has room for them all!

Onboard you’ll find amenities like: plush seating, satellite T.V., a well equipped bar, and lots of leg room. All of our boats are equipped with the right technology to make for a smooth ride to your destination.

Seastreak Ferry, $10 one way, season opens Friday, June 16, 25 India Street, (directions)
