(6.22) The Roger Williams Park June tour series presents “Waterways and Landscape” with guides Megan Gardener, landscape architect for the City of Providence, and Brian Byrnes, the deputy superintendent of the Parks Department.
(Coming up: June 29, “Statues in the Park.”)
Side note: This view includes the Seal House, which once appeared on the PPS Most Endangered Properties List. Don’t know what may have been done since then to preserve the structure. This has nothing to do with the W&L Tour — I just already had the picture.
The Roger Williams Park Seal House was constructed in 1938 along with a monkey house and an elephant house as part of a Works Progress Administration project. . . . Located directly adjacent to Roosevelt Lake, the stone walls at the base of the building are slowly eroding.
