The Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) kicks off Tuesday night with an opening night gala at PPAC. Festival runs Tuesday, August 8, through Sunday, August 13.
More than 300 feature length, documentary and short films — from 64 countries, and 34 states across the U.S. — will be screened during the six-day festival at locations throughout the state of Rhode Island. Films have been selected from a record entry base of more than 6,000 submissions, and this year’s festival will include 107 World and North American premieres.
Go here for schedule of events being held in Providence and elsewhere around the state. Or check out the films list. (Oh my god there’s a movie about Highlights Magazine!)
Event venues around town include: RISD’s Metcalf Auditorium, The Vets, AS220 Black Box Theatre, Woodman Center at Moses Brown, and a ‘Providence Location Tour’ takes off from the Biltmore Hotel on Wednesday morning.
Discover the Ocean State in this special guided tour by our friends at the RI Historical Society and the RI Film & Television Office. Thanks to the RIHS, you will see some of the amazing locations and learn the history of our wonderful state.
