‘Stir Crazy’ MotB

(8.24) This week’s Movies on the Block is the 1980 comedy “Stir Crazy,” directed by Sidney Poitier and starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. (Facebook event page.)

Set up and wrongfully accused, two best friends will be sent to prison for a crime they didn’t commit, however, no prison cell can keep them locked in.

Look for Brown grad (Pembroke actually) JoBeth Williams as Meredith.

Rated R. Running time: 1 hour, 51 minutes.

[FYI: I wandered past Grant’s Block last Thursday and the movie seemed much louder than I had remembered it being in the past. Diners seeking a relaxing, quiet conversation at the sidewalk tables at Oberlin or Kleo’s were probably disappointed. On the other hand, if you want to eat out while watching the movie — it totally works. BC]

Free, 7:31pm, Thursday, August 24, Grant’s Block, 260 Westminster Street, (directions)
