(10.3) The Columbus Film Club has scheduled a screening of the 2004 comedy ‘Mean Girls’ for Tuesday, National Mean Girls Day. This is the day that the country has set aside to honor Tina Fey and thank her for writing this movie and being so awesome. From Elvis Mitchell writing at The New York Times,
The tart and often charming new comedy ”Mean Girls,” which opens nationwide today, is a version of the heart-of-darkness teenage social comedy ”Heathers” for the tweener audience. One of the few films that Lorne Michaels, the producer of ”Saturday Night Live,” can be proud of, it has the ambitious and cartoony dark side of a Disney Channel sitcom, with a lively and talented young cast headed by the cherubic Lindsay Lohan.
Rated PG-13. Running time: 1 hour, 37 minutes. With Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Tim Meadows, Amy Poehler, and Ana Gasteyer (currently killing it in ‘People of Earth’).
$10, doors 7pm, film 7:30pm, Tuesday, October 3, Columbus Theatre, 270 Broadway, (directions)
