RISD Craft Sale On Benefit Street

(10.7) A block of Benefit Street will be closed to traffic this Saturday for the annual RISD Craft Show. Expect to see painting, textiles, glass, jewelry, apparel, lighting, printmaking, ceramics, and more. The work from this year’s participants can be viewed at RISD Craft Artists.

The event takes place rain or shine — under a street tent if the need arises — and runs for one day only. You may notice a lot of people wandering around: It is the RISD alumni reunion weekend as well as parents’ weekend. Be helpful, drive carefully. (Facebook event page.)

Our annual juried sale RISD Craft features handmade fine art and design work by more than 90 alumni and 30 current students.

In addition to all the artist booths, from 11am-3pm, we’ll have Laura Steinman 99 SC leading a fun art workshop for all ages, and a gaggle of students and staff who are eager to create caricatures of you!

Seen here is a wire bowl by Marsha Trattner (’87 SC) of She-Weld.

Food trucks of course, but don’t forget to check out Café Pearl right inside the museum entrance.

Free and open to the public, 10am to 5pm, Saturday, October 7, Benefit Street between College and Waterman Streets (directions)
