Back by popular demand: The ‘Tour de Tentacle’ — Providence’s signature weird bicycle odyssey based on the arcane writings of Providence native H.P. Lovecraft — returns for a third year. This pre-Halloween weekend, riders will again travel the city by bike to solve mysteries, outsmart monsters, and ultimately save (or lose) Providence to a dark and looming Lovecraftian evil.
Tour de Tentacle offers the chance for participants to enjoy bicycling around the city, discover a bit of Lovecraft’s history in Providence, and practice their clue-solving skills. The weird bicycle adventure/scavenger hunt will take small teams of riders all over Downtown Providence as well as the East Side, to such historic locations as The Athenaeum, Prospect Terrace Park, The Arcade, and more — each transformed into a site along the event’s plot line.
The event features kicks off at 2pm from the Arcade downtown and features discounted rentals available from DASH Bicycle Shop, on-site repairs available from velofix and Recycle-A-Bike, and drinks from Narragansett Beer and New Harvest Coffee & Spirits.
Tickets include one free drink at the after-party kicking off in the Arcade at 5pm. The after-party is free and open to the public. Profits support the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences Council and NecronomiCon.
