Alternative ComicCon — Olneyville Library

(11.10) The Providence Community Library (PCL) Alternative ComicCon was such a hit last year that they are bringing it back, this year to the Olneyville Library. Alternative ComicCon is a small scale comics convention for local residents, especially kids and teens, who are excited about comics, manga, and illustration, and want to experience this passion in a more interactive way.

Olneyville Library will transform into a mini-convention hall and collaborative space where participants can interact with inspiring Providence artists and arts organizations.

Exhibitors include Big Nazo; the Providence Comics Consortium, which will offer screen printing and group drawing; Providence Roller Derby girls will roll in with button making and more; and Providence City Arts for Youth will provide an animation workshop. Local artists Jeremy Ferris and Olivia Horvath will offer, respectively, a large scale collaborative drawing and an animation workshop. Author, artist and children’s book illustrator Cathren Housley will provide a creative arts workshop. There will be a comic book giveaway and costumes are encouraged!

2pm to 6pm, Friday, November 10, Olneyville Library, 1 Olneyville Square, (directions)
