And not yet. In Providence, your tree will be picked up curbside during the first full two weeks of January. The Rhode Resource Recovery Corporation has a helpful page devoted to Providence-specific instructions on the handling of bulky waste like furniture, appliances, mattresses, etc.
The more general, statewide, instructions for preparing any ‘Real Christmas Greenery’ for recycling are as follows:
Strip them bare (remove everything from the tree, including the stand; remove metal frame from wreath). . . Or toss in your backyard as a habitat enhancement.
The RIRRC will turn your trees into compost — do not leave them in a plastic bag!
