‘Grease’ On The Big Screen

(4.11) There is something unsettling about this illustration. The chin dimple is a distraction. At any rate, this is the poster for the “Grease” 40th Anniversary theatrical release from Fathom Events. There will be two screenings at the Providence Place Mall: One on Sunday and one on Wednesday.

Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. When they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?

There has already been a 20th anniversary revival which ignited a “Grease” frenzy among nine- and ten-year-old girls across the land. Roger Ebert grumped that the actors did not appear to be high school teens. According to IMDb:

Most of the principal cast were well past their high school years. When filming began in June 1977, Stockard Channing was 33, Michael Tucci was 31, Jamie Donnelly was 30, Annette Charles was 29, Olivia Newton-John was 28, Jeff Conaway was 26, Didi Conn was 25, and John Travolta was 23.

Rated PG-13. Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes.
