(4.14) The weather looks great for the Urban Agricultural Kick-Off, the Southside Community Land Trust’s free, annual spring celebration. It will take place at four sites in Providence: the West End, Southside, Olneyville and East Side.
You can pick up free non-GMO, organic and heirloom vegetable, herb and flower seeds, plus low-cost, locally made organic fertilizer. Finally, SCLT members and anyone who joins or renews at UAKO can bring home 50 gallons of high-quality, organic compost (just show your membership card). Please bring large, plastic containers to cart away your compost (we’ll have paper yard waste bags on hand for those without them).
Pros will be on hand to answer questions about chemical-free gardening and pest control. Rain date: April 15.
