‘Paris Plus Friends’ Opens

(8.3) Meet Paris. He has great hair, the most authentically distressed jeans on the planet (see below), and many many artistic friends. His position as gallery assistant at AS220 has him directly plugged into the local art and music scene. Paris curates shows all around town — you may have seen him at PVDFest where he and Comics Consortium artists Walker Mettling and Diablo conducted interactive screenprinting and drawing activities. (Diablo executed the grouchy pyramid cyclops on the window behind Paris.)

Week One of this month-long pop-up kicks off this Friday with ‘Paris Paris Paris Plus Friends.’ They were busy setting up when I stopped by. Seen below is artist ViktorG installing ‘District 9’ the latest iteration of his perpetual MeconoMorph project fabricated from folded business cards. Each card is folded once. Viktor attended the Leningrad Academy of Arts, arriving in this country in 1990 from what was then the Soviet Union, now Russia.

For the month of August this Westminster Street location will serve as a gallery for artists, vendors, music, and workshops. Paris was quick to acknowledge Cornish for providing the space, and the RISCA grant that helped make the show possible. Follow ParisPlusFriends on IG.

They are asking $5, but pay what you can.

Paris Plus Friends opens, 5pm, Friday, August 3, 233 Westminster Street, (directions)
