(8.30) Who doesn’t love old card catalogs? Now you can bring the Dewey Decimal System, and a piece of Providence Public Library history, right into your own home. In preparation for building renovations scheduled to begin next month, the PPL will be holding an auction of more than 300 lots of items, including furnishings, tables, chairs, antique card catalogs and cabinets, auditorium seating, a grand piano, and much more. Online auction and online bidding only: The sale is being conducted through SJ Corio Company; for auction details, registration, and photos go here. Bidding will open Tuesday and continue through August 30. Lots will begin to close August 30 at noon.
