New AMC Series ‘NOS4A2’ Filming In RI

Keep yer eyes peeled for Zachary Quinto. All filming for the upcoming AMC supernatural horror series “NOS4A2” (say Nosferatu) will take place right here in Rhode Island. A North Kingstown warehouse has even been converted into a sound stage. Who to thank? One of the local connections, executive producer Lauren Corrao, is originally from Providence. According to today’s ProJo:

Executive producer Lauren Corrao, who brought the project to AMC, is from Providence and graduated from Classical High School and Brown University. Her family is in Narragansett now.

. . . A library scene was filmed at the Providence Athenaeum. Other sites included the Moses Brown School, a Peter Pan bus stop, places in Warren, Foster, Lincoln Woods, and a school in Woonsocket.

The second movie for Moses Brown: ‘Infinitely Polar Bear,’ starring Mark Ruffalo, shot a few scenes on the campus in 2014.

Last month I stumbled upon a row of Haddad’s trailers parked at Lloyd and Wayland Avenues. Signs next to the doors indicated that no fewer than four stunt drivers were on set that day. (Perhaps our potholes — portals?! — caught the eye of the location scout.)

According to Deadline, Quinto plays the seemily immortal Charlie Manx:

Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic [McQueen] must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

The show is based on the novel of the same name by writer Joe Hill. He is the son of author Stephen King to whom he bears a striking resemblance.

Rhode Island is not the specific setting for the series — the action of the show takes place in New England and other locations around the country. The premiere is scheduled for summer of 2019.
