Birding Adventure At Swan Point

(11.28) Have you always liked the idea of birding but not the early hours? Here’s your bird. Head over to Swan Point Cemetery Wednesday afternoon for a free, guided bird walk hosted by the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. Guides Tracey Hall and Lisa Maloney will show you how to look for owls and other birds in this beautiful cemetery. (Facebook event page.)

Thanks to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife’s Urban Bird Treaty Program, and a partnership between the Providence Parks Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership and the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, these free, monthly bird walks will be held at various locations around Providence for the next two years.

There is a small parking lot inside the cemetery gates where the group will gather, with additional street parking along Blackstone Boulevard. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy walking shoes. Binoculars will be available to loan.

(The owls in this image are no more . . . they have ceased to be . . . they are ex-owls.)

Free, 3pm to 4pm, Wednesday, November 28, Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, (directions)
