(1.16) Hands-on coding at the Geeks Dinner Wednesday. (Facebook event page.)
We’re going to do something a little different at this month’s Providence Geeks. Instead of a presenter, we’ll be holding a drop-in, hands-on night of coding fun. The plans are evolving, but at the moment, we’ve got three activities planned that you can sample:
BBC Micro:bit, the cute little programmable board designed for teaching and learning.
littleBits (pictured in the photo), electronic building blocks that you can code using their Arduino-compatible bit.
Chibitronics paper circuits and Chibi Chip, another awesome system for learning and programming.
This is a family-friendly event, but alcohol is served in the space, so plan accordingly. Beverages will be for sale at the AS220 bar, but due to construction, the restaurant will not be open.
We’ll order some pizza for you all, though. Wear whatever, bring whomever, arrive and take off whenever!
Free, 5:30pm to 8pm, Wednesday, January 16, AS220, 115 Empire Street, (directions)
