Biltmore Now ‘Graduate Providence’

But they will be keeping the iconic red ‘Biltmore’ sign on the roof. Here is the statement on the new hotel website.

We are excited to announce our transition to Graduate Providence, which is now open as of spring 2019. Graduate Hotels is a thoughtfully crafted collection of hotels that reside in dynamic university-anchored towns across the country.

Graduate Providence celebrates the youthful optimism of college and cultivates the spirit of the Providence community while paying homage to this historic landmark locale.

Those other towns include: Ann Arbor, Berkeley, Tempe, Eugene, Madison, Iowa City, Seattle, and Oxford, Mississippi. The sale of the hotel was announced over a year ago. (ProJo 10.24.17)

The new owner said it plans a “comprehensive renovation” of the 18,500-square-foot property and plans to convert it to a “Graduate Providence” hotel by the spring of 2019.

“Launched in 2014, Graduate Hotels is a new, boutique hotel collection targeting college towns across America,” according to the company website.

The script font of the ‘Graduate’ sign on the marquee (based on the company logo) feels a bit casual for this beaux-arts facade, and without a “The” it is not clear whether this is a noun or an order! But at least the new owners are leaving the beloved illuminated red Biltmore sign, so that’s cool. And they are pet-friendly.
