Lovecraft Gathering At Ladd Observatory

(4.14) The annual gathering commemorating the life and work of H.P. Lovecraft will take place Sunday at 3pm at the Ladd Observatory. Visitors today can get a bonus look at the daytime moon. (Facebook event.)

An annual gathering recognizing the life and unique literary contributions of Mr. Lovecraft. He was an avid, amateur astronomer This event, a Providence tradition, will be open and free to the public. Weather permitting, on event day a specially adapted telescope will be set on the front lawn of Ladd Observatory, to permit visitors a daytime, telescopic viewing of the Moon.

Following the ceremony, hosted by Carl L. Johnson, attendees are invited to reconvene at the author’s grave in Swan Point Cemetery. (The ProJo interviewed Johnson a few years ago. Pretty sure this is not Johnson in this photo.)
