Intro To E-Bikes At Mission Electric

(4.28) Curious about the whole e-bike thing but don’t know where to start? Head over to Mission Electric this Sunday for ‘Reintroduction to Cycling and E-Bikes’ where owner Tyler Justin is ready to answer all your questions.

Reintroduce yourself to the joy of cycling and discover the fun of E-Bikes!
Come and spend part of your afternoon with Mission Electric and Rhode Island Bicycle Coalition learning about electric bikes and how to safely and confidently ride them anywhere. Participants will have a chance to try different styles and brands of e-bikes available at Mission Electric.

Bring a helmet if you have one.

Justin’s e-bike credentials are certainly in order. He lived in New York City just as they were launching their Citi-Bike bike-sharing program. According to EcoRI,

One day he stopped by the Citi Bike office to drop off a list of things he thought might help the organization work more efficiently. They offered him a job.

Over the next three years he helped the nation’s largest bike-sharing operation, with 650 stations and 12,000 bikes, renovate its entire operating system, without, he noted proudly, disrupting its day-to-day operations.

But when he and wife Emily moved to Providence (a hilly city just screaming for the occasional power boost) they decided to enter the private sector, opening Mission Electric last June. In addition to the bikes, the store carries accessories like those badass, fingerless leather gloves, and the lovely Thousand helmet below.

Coffee and doughnuts will be available. The store will also be kicking off Bike Month on May 1st with a party. And ask about the Thursday Cruise Nights when the Mission Electric e-biker gang cruises about the city, terrorizing the locals . . . in their glowy, aqua-colored helmets.

Noon to 3pm, Sunday, April 28, Mission Electric, 198 Ives Street, (directions)
