(8.22) Greetings and salutations. Grab a chair, grab a blanket, and head over to The Plant on Valley Street this Thursday when the ‘Flicks on Bricks’ movie will be the 1988 dark dark comedy ‘Heathers’ starring Winona Rider (“Stranger Things”) and Christian Slater (“Mr. Robot”). Brought to you by Troop and it’s free.
Winona Rider, plays the normal new girl, Veronica, who tries to survive the social jungle of high school by sticking with the three most popular girls at school who are all called Heather. Enter a young Christian Slater as J.D. the sociopath who leads her into a life of unintentional murder and indifference, as she exacts revenge on her enemies, also known as her best friends.
Rated R. running time: 1 hour, 47 minutes. Roger Ebert had this to say:
For a long time, we’re not even sure of the point of view: Is this a black comedy about murder or just a cynical morality play? The traveler in the foreign country is not sure, but he knows the film inspires thought, and has the ability to shock – two qualities that make it worth considering.
“Footloose” coming up September 5th.
