New At The Children’s Museum

Quick . . . someone lend me a child.* Not only is there a fun new space to explore at the Providence Children’s Museum, but on Friday the museum will celebrate the return of the newly refurbished Nori the Dragon with a party. Admission for that event is free and will include a parade, special dance performances, and dragon-themed activities.

Up now: The new installation seen here, “Extravagant Properties: Line, Shape, and Color” runs through September 23rd.

Providence artist Nick Carter, in collaboration with the Museum’s Exhibits Team, has created ‘Extravagant Properties: Line, Shape, and Color’. The environment explores geometry through the 2D and 3D worlds of points and lines in space. Little visitors and grownups will delight as they play with light, color, and patterns, taking charge and making their own designs.

Free on Friday, August 30, 5pm to 8pm: Nori’s Big Bash.

Join PCM for a dragon-style dance party, make your own sparkly dragon’s egg, try dragon themed origami, and enjoy a very special performance and parade by The Imperial Lion Dance Team!

*I visited the museum on my own once and spent the whole time trying not to look like a perv which made me feel like a complete perv.
