Backyard Party At Avenue Concept

(9.25) You may be unfamiliar with the name The Avenue Concept (TAC), but you have seen their work going up all around downtown for several years now: Those murals on the sides of buildings? Those sculptures that ease the pain of idling in traffic? That has all come about through their mission of funding and supporting the creation and installation of artwork in public places. (Many of those sculptures are actually for sale and have sold.) We have written up some our favorites (here and here).

This Wednesday The Avenue Concept invites the public to stop by and take a look around. (Facebook event.)

Free and open to the public
Back-to-back tracks spun by DJ Providence Deep Underground
Drinks + signature Concept cocktails
Food truck
On-street parking. Enter in through the black gate.

Another TAC program is the Paintbar which supports local street artists with 240 feet of legal paint walls and sells a wide variety of primo Montana spray paints. Three sides of the building exterior form an ever-changing canvas for these street artists. The work below may well be covered up with something new by now.

Free, 6pm to 9pm, Wednesday, September 25, Avenue Concept, 304 Lockwood Street, (directions)

The TAC crew joined with their neighbors on Somerset Street to brighten up the streets with fanciful dots.

The walkway at Mt. Pleasant High honors The Kilties.
