Artist Window At The Graduate

The Hotel Graduate Providence* mini museum is in the window next to their entrance on Dorrance Street. Currently featured is the work of Puerto Rican-born artist Atabey Sánchez of Giraffes and Robots Studio in the Hope Artiste Village. Sánchez took a somewhat circuitous route to life as an artist.

Since I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. This plan lasted
throughout university and beyond . While at university, (I have a Biology degree from Brown University) I had a lot of friends from RISD, an art school nearby. I would study my neuroscience textbooks while they painted, sculpted, printed, etc. I loved the science I was learning but I was also in awe of their completely different university experience.

And then she went to Japan.

Featured work is rotated quarterly, so the Graduate needs to hear from other creative types interested in displaying their work. Those interested should contact Graduate marketing manager John Ciolfi at jciolfi@graduateprovidence.com.
