Free ESL Classes Start At PCL

The Providence Community Library system will be starting its English as a Second Language (ESL) classes shortly. Classes will cover grammar, conversation, and writing, and will run through June. The first two branches to kick off beginner sessions are:  Knight Memorial on Elmwood Avenue this Wednesday, January 22; and the South Providence branch on Prairie Avenue on Thursday.

Other branches — including Mt. Pleasant, Olneyville, Rochambeau, Smith Hill, and Washington Park — will be starting during January and February as well, with an Intermediate level in Olneyville starting January 28. Olneyville also has a beginner class starting in March. There are some drop-in conversational sessions as well for intermediate speakers.

There are evening and daytime schedules. Go here for the complete schedule and locations.

They ask that you register at the front desk of your library, or email: cbriones@provcomlib.org. For more information, call 467-2700 x1608 (Hablamos español).
